Your name travels with the referral. Here's how I keep it safe.

I'm Lindsey Painter, LCSW, EMDR certified, and DBT and ERP trained. I see people fourteen and up, in person in Sandy and by telehealth anywhere in Utah. I keep a small caseload on purpose, I reach out to every referral within one business day, and I tell you when it landed. If your client isn't a fit for me, you'll hear that from me too.

What to send me.
Areas of my services and specialties.

These are the presentations I'm trained for and the ones I take. Trauma and OCD come to me most often from other providers, usually with depression alongside and a long habit of avoiding feelings.

  • Trauma and PTSD

    EMDRSensorimotor

Certified in EMDR. Single incident and complex presentations, PTSD, ages fourteen and up. Sensorimotor and somatic work alongside.

  • OCD

    ERPI-CBT

Exposure and response prevention, and I-CBT, for OCD, including the avoidance and the compulsions a client uses to numb the feeling.

  • Body-focused repetitive behaviors

    ACT-enhanced behavior therapy

BFRBs, including trichotillomania and skin picking.

  • DBT and ACT skills work for emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and anxiety.

  • Relationships

    Relationship anxietyInterpersonal conflict

Relationship anxiety and interpersonal conflict, including attachment patterns and the relationships a client stays in past the point that is good for them.

Usually present alongside: depression, anxiety, and sometimes ADHD. I work with those as part of the picture rather than referring them out.

What not to send me.

I don't work with active psychosis, or with anyone who needs more than weekly outpatient therapy can hold. If your client needs IOP, PHP, or residential care right now, I'll say so on the consult call and give them two names, and I'll tell you the same day.

If I don't have room, I'll tell you within one business day rather than put your client on a quiet waitlist.

“Lindsey has many strengths as a clinician. She is humble and open to changing and improving her skills, and she is very curious and asks excellent questions. An indication of my confidence in Lindsey’s skills as an EMDR therapist is that I would absolutely send my own friends or family to see her for EMDR therapy because of her skills in the EMDR therapy model and her desire to stay true to the model.”

Rosey SchaefermeyerLicensed Clinical Social Worker

“Lindsey is an exceptional therapist who uses a number of evidence-based practices to help her clients. She is professional, organized, and knowledgeable. She has a plethora of experience in different settings where she has excelled mightily. I consistently ask if she is taking new clients when I need to make a referral.”

Kenji HammonLicensed Clinical Social Worker

“Whenever my nutrition clients are in need of therapy support, Lindsey is the first person I turn to. I know my clients will be in excellent hands working with her as she is incredibly compassionate and qualified and has an array of skills and tools to best meet the needs of the client. It’s important to me that whoever I recommend to my clients takes a client-centered approach, and I am so confident in Lindsey for this.”

What happens after you refer.

Within one business day. I call your client myself. Nothing is automated between me and them: no intake bot, no portal, no scheduling software. You get a short note from me that the referral landed.

The consult. Fifteen minutes, free. I decide fit honestly and say so. If it's not a fit, your client leaves the call with two names, and you hear that from me.

The first session. Sixty minutes: history, presenting concern, what they want from the work. If your client agrees, we sign a release of information so I can coordinate with you.

Ongoing. With a release on file, I don't go dark. You'll hear from me at intake, at any change in level of care, when we close, and any time you ask. If you're prescribing, medication questions come to you, not around you.

Records. Notes live in a HIPAA-compliant system and go nowhere else. Coordination happens by phone or secure fax, not by text.

More about how I work with clients

Coverage, for the client you're sending. In network with Blue Cross Blue Shield, EMI, PEHP, HMHI-BHN, MotivHealth, Select Health, and Curative. Out of network, a superbill and a billing specialist who handles the paperwork. Cost and coverage in full are on the Policies and FAQ page.

If it's a fit, I'll reach out to your client the same day and tell you it landed. If it's not, I'll tell you that too.
